Mendix in a Mirror: How to Reverse Menu Alignment Back to the Left Side

After starting my Mendix Studio Pro on a typical working day, to my surprise, I saw the main menus on the top bar aligned to the right side, instead of the left side, which is the expected behavior for LTR Languages (I’m from Brazil, a Portuguese speaker).

At first, this change didn’t catch my attention, since I was hurrying to implement some important features. At that time, I decided to focus on what really mattered and left this cosmetical inconvenience to another moment.

For those of you who are curious about how the menu appears right aligned, see the pictures below:

Studio Pro: Right Aligned menu Help

The same was happening in another application, so it was clear that the issue was related to my Windows 11.

I don’t know the reason for this change in alignment. I think this strange menu behavior appeared after a Windows Update. The fact is that after a while this started to bother me a lot.

Fortunately, the procedure to fix this is simple, and not obvious. All you have to do is to go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Pen & Windows Ink, then change Choose which hand you write with from Right to Left.

After this change, once again I can use my Studio Pro as I was accustomed to.

The expected menu alignment

It can be considered silly, but this made a huge change in my productivity and in my capacity to keep the focus on what matters at the end of the day: coding.
